Has your Primary Care Provider been helpful?

Good morning, I have been diagnosed with an adenocarcinoma, and am still undergoing scans and biopsies to determine staging. I’m very early in the processing have a lot to learn! I have generally been very health and am still fairly young (49). I have a PCP, but I have had little to no reason to see her; once every three years or so. Has your PCP been helpful, or have you relied on the oncologists and pulmonologists? I’m wondering if or when I should reach out. Thanks.

@lls8000 HiYa it’s Dave from Pa: it actually was my PCP that ordered my recent PetCt this past July. I wasn’t due for a follow up with my oncologist till fall but just wasn’t feeling right. Anyway the Scan showed my previously treated lung nodules had returned and metastasized into my liver, hips, spine, clavicles & pelvis. Stage IV mNSCLC. My oncologist immediately started radiation then chemo. So yes I see my PCP on a regular basis. Otherwise it wouldn’t have been found till Nov.

@dave56pa, This is a great reminder to list to our own bodies. Your's was certainly telling you something! I've found my PCP to be helpful in managing my non-cancer health. Even as stage IV patients, we're living longer and longer, and need to keep up on our general health.
