Oral liken planus
Does anyone else have OLP lesion on lower lip? So difficult to eat... Dr google says it very rare for it to be on the lip. Maybe it lip cancer??

@shelby29 my oral pathologist finally prescribed Lyderm gel (used off label) and so far that has been the only hiring that has helped for my lichen planus. It is meant to be used for just seven days, but my OLP was so bad it took ten days to clear. Now I use it only occasionally, when I have a flare.
In the meantime, try pure coconut oil on your lips. I find my lips and corners or my mouth get very dry and cracked, especially in cold weather (I live in Canada!) and coconut oil helps a lot. Because I tend to bite and lick my lips a lot, I feel coconut oil is a safer bet for me because it is food grade. I apply it before bed too.
If you are a Costco member, Kirkland brand coconut oil is the most value for your money. I use coconut oil as moisturizer all over my body too.
@beckdog At this time the only treatment I receive for my Oral Lichen Planus is to go into the surgery center and be put under general anesthesia so they can try to stretch my esophagus and have more biopsies done. I now have a few areas with abnormal cells, precancerous. Unfortunately I am needing to have this done more frequently. Unfortunately, I'm going into the surgery center today again. This will be the sixth time since my diagnosis four years ago.
When I saw my specialist yesterday he suggested I see another specialist. The most recent studies on ELP, 2019-2025 to date, have suggested a couple of medications which suppress the immune system in an attempt to reduce the continual swelling in the esophagus. One of the medications is budesnide orodispersible tablets. Unfortunately this medication is a corticosteroid. There is another medication I could try that is not a corticosteroid. Honestly, I don't like corticosteroids. The side effects can be awful for some patients. I plan to see this other specialist in six weeks.
My main concern at this point is the development of cancer. I have biopsies done every time I have my esophagus dilated. It's very important to catch the cancer early before it spreads.
Honestly, I am very fearful of the cancerous growths. Esophageal cancer is very bad.
Once I see another specialist I will post the other treatments on the Esophageal Lichen Planus page here.
I may also go and see a specialist at the University of Washington.
