Polymyalgia and "new " allergies.
I was diagnosed with PMR in March of 2019. Since then, I have gone into remission 3 or 4 times. I am currently in remission and not on Prednisone. 3 times this month I have been put into the hospital with serious, but not life threatening allergy symptoms. All 3 times I have been given a shot for allergies, and a shot of steroids'. All the times, the symptoms went away, and didn't come back until the next attack. I would get first, a pain in the middle of my chest, then I would start itching, then I would throw up and either pass out, or nearly pass out, and the itching would get intense to the degree that I felt like my skin was on fire. Has this happened to anyone else?? I have never been allergic to anything before and I am 76 years old.

I've been on Prednisone for four months. I have not experienced any new allergies, in fact, my seasonal allergy symptoms have greatly improved! Good luck!
I am having weird skin allergic reactions. Since my first 'flare' in April, I get itchy rashes (hive-like) from the hot tub, feminine hygiene pads (very inconvenient), and apparently this morning the seam on a certain shirt (my left arm is covered in hives this morning)....
Just more weird symptoms with this disease? Or something new?
I had some severe allergic reactions about 1 year prior to being diagnosed with Polymyalgia. Mine were confusing and repetitive enough to require that I go through some extensive allergy testing. Turns out that I am allergic to a preservative found in everything from dental temporary fillings to makeup, soap, shampoo & lotion. I would typically breakout in a rash on my neck (regardless of where I applied the product). I also had classic allergy reactions and eventual respiratory issues. I did not have any known allergies prior to the rashes. My dermatologist recommended the testing because we had been unable to connect the dots. So glad that I did it because it kept me from exposing myself constantly and as it turns out had nothing to do with PMR. I wouldn’t doubt it if Prednisone has also made me even more sensitive. If your concerns persist I would strongly recommend testing. Blessings! ❤️
