Tymlos vs. Evenity

I do not have side effects with Tymlos. But b4 I inject each morning I drink a full glass of water with a pinch of mineral salt. Also I always move afterwards doing physical chores, or going for a walk. I do not think I wd feel good if I were to lay down. As for HRT-I chose that on my own to help combat any negative effects from Tymlos such as fatigue, wt. gain, etc. I also do weights and want to increase my chance of muscle building. When I look at my health history, ie: cancer and bone loss, these both occurred post estrogen loss so I decided to add that back in to help maintain and generally feel better. I take estradiol patch, progesterone pill at nite and testosterone cream. I will post any updates along my journey. I am hoping for any better alternative over bisphosphonates by the time I end Tymlos.

Pretty active year round with outdoor sports and a gym junkie. I was very shocked to get this news. I’ve been doing natural path care for 4 years. I’ve been able to get my bone turnover to a normal after it was extremely high, but I continue to lose bone density in my hip now at -2.5 and -2.7, lumbar got a tiny bit better now at -3.4. I’ve decided to start a med and am also debating between the two you mentioned. Any advice is welcome. I get another Dexa scan next month and hoping for better numbers. I also started using a vibrating pad for home workouts for a year now. Fingers crossed!

@ceccy good luck, thanks for sharing. I’ve had 4 vertebral fractures this in a year. Dr started me on Tymlos 2 months ago. I also have severe stenosis in my neck, affecting my arms. Have had so many dexamethasone injections. Already have fusion in next in ‘05.
The vertebrae above and below are deteriorating . I’m in constant pain. I’m praying the Tymlos works, side effects suck, but I push through. Just has injections in C456 today. Arm feels better. Warm wishes E

@osteoresearch I’m struggling with the side effects from Tymlos. I couldn’t possibly do anything after the injection. My brain goes into a spin, headache, and nausea.
It comes on within 3-10 minutes post injection. 2 months now. I wake up sometimes with the room spinning and a pounding head. I’m hoping things ease up soon. Warm wishes E

@eileenvan I get headaches too post injection. And some back pain as well

@taraneh64 It’s a brain fog that’s really bad. Within 3 - 10 minutes post injection. Lasts about an hour.
I already have back pain. (And neck pain from severe stenosis)

This is so helpful. I am 58 and just diagnosed with severe osteoporosis. I have been looking into Tymlos and Evenity as well. About to start HRT after results of bloodwork come back. It's kind of daunting. It seems like both drugs have good and bad. I was leaning towards Tymlos. I meet with my rheumatologist Monday to see what she recommends. Has anyone had any issues with insurance coverage of these drugs? This disease really throws you for a loop when you are completely healthy and active!! Thanks for any feedback.

I am going to begin hrt but I haven't decided yet if I want to do the testosterone. My doctor recommends the pellets but I'm not sure if I want that. I'm also a little worried about the side effects of testosterone. Have you had any side effects?

Hi Dana,
I am loving HRT and no I haven't had any side effects but I would not do pellets, personally. I don't like anything that stays in my system for months. I do the daily cream you apply to your inner thighs. So if you notice any side effects you can adjust accordingly. I have a lot more energy, less brain fog, better libido. The only side effect I've noticed but so minimal I barely feel the need to mention it but I notice a few more hairs around my mouth and chin I have to pluck but again you can adjust your dose if you do not like any of the side effects. It's a small price for me compared to feeling good. Hope this helps.
