I am 8 month post TKR surgery and still have a lot of pain on the inside or my knee. The last 4 months my surgeon did not have any answers. I had a CT scan and MRI and the surgeon claimed they were non-conclusive. I went to a University Medical Clinic for a second opinion. The PA told me more in 20 minutes that I learning in the last 4 months. He said the problem is with the bursa sack. He sent me back to physical therapy for a few weeks. If the new PT does not relieve the pain he said they would do an injection directly into the bursa sack. I thought the shot would be the relieve I was looking for. However, my wife doing research online said this shot has a very high risk of infection. Has anyone out there had this type of shot?

@medicaltalkline,

I'd like to invite @cindymattern, @laughlin1947 and @loulou13 who all mentioned having bursa injections from a joint replacement to share their experiences with how it worked for them and whether or not they were instructed on the risk of infection from the shot itself.

@medicaltalkline, it is good to hear that you met with someone who addressed your concerns and offered a potential solution. Did they think PT would be successful? Does your PT now involve doing exercises you weren't previously doing?
