I have OLP also. I also have LP on my skin and I unfortunately have Esophageal Lichen Planus which is incredibly rare.
OLP and ELP are autoimmune diseases. The autoimmune system is attacking the mucus membranes in the body.
My specialist told me that if the OLP starts to go outside of my mouth he will need to send me to an autoimmune specialist. If it goes into the lips it may spread into the face. A Rheumatologist is also an autoimmune specialist. (Most people think a Rheumatologist only treat conditions like arthritis. But, for example Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease.)

@sadea0208 I also have oral lichen planus and esophageal lichen planus. I seem to now have a lesion on inside of lower lip. What treatment have you received for these areas? Especially interested in esophageal treatment.
