@celia16 - I'm 75, had partial hyst.at age 34, never given HRT, but did fine (except for hypothyroid). I have 2 docs in the family and have had 3 OB/GYN over the years. For some reason, Docs do not have much knowledge about hormones; even my ENDO doesn't want to try anything but levothyroxine. So I have researched it myself and came up with estradiol cream and progesterone cream, which help me sleep better. But now I've found wild yam cream and am trying that, to see what happens. Just saying: not much Doc help out there.

@lauracbaker @celia16 @gravity3 could it be that your doctors have been reluctant to put you on HRT because of family history of breast or gynaecological cancer?

I have refused HRT - even though my doctors have been only too happy to prescribe it - because of history of cancers (including breast cancer) in my family.
