I had a carotid body paraganglioma removed from the bifurcation of my carotid arteries on July 10 at Mayo. All went well. 3 weeks after surgery, I developed the globus sensation and some hoarseness, and let my surgeons know. They said the vagus nerve was unaffected after the operation, but were concerned about the 3 wks post-op development. They said to give it 3-4 weeks and then call if still there. I got a call from them on exactly Day 28, inquiring. I told them it's still there, seems to be a larger lump and still have the hoarseness. My post surgical followup is this next week and they may do a scoping and exam, depending on what the post-op MRI shows.

Thank you for sharing your journey. I had my first breast lumpectomy at Mayo MN in Oct 2013, following up in Texas at home with a second one teo years later. A CT showed a few weeks ago that I may also have the same PARA as well. New CT Angiogram and blood work done in Houston a few days ago, no results yet, but researching all I can find on treatments. Let us know how you are doing, and prayers to all of us going through any medical treatment. Kind regards
