How do you deal with this diagnosis?
I have had strange BM for 55 days. Got a contrast cat scan Saturday and ER Dr told me I have rectal cancer. I'm losing my mind. Did anyone ever just have this to say you had cancer ? Thank you

Hearing the diagnosis is a tough moment…my heart goes out to you ! I think i was kind of numbed…into, okay, now what ?… One step at a time, and i try not to project my negative fears, but to try and figure out what i needed to do….for me, i had to focus on setting up legal and bank business, and getting bills on auto-pay, so my wonderful cousin POA/health advocate would not have any problems helping me—so i could rest my mind that , whatever happened, I’d done what had to be done. Stage 4 quite sobering, to say the least… whatever your diagnosis, you will find strength you never thought you had…best of luck !!

3 ReactionsHang in there, not easy…one step at a time… if there are questions, sometimes only a PET scan or further testing can reveal what’s happening… if you ;truly feel the need, advocate for what you need… best of luck !!

1 ReactionThanks NaNa! I am the "BOP" of one grandson!
He and I talk about life. Even though it was before he was born, I try and teach him about taking everything that comes your way can be dealt with a POSITIVE mind set!
As an OLD mentor of mine told me 50 years ago, "THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS, ONLY OPOTUNITIES!"
I've used that thought to accomplish much in my Life! Weather it is my physical health or normal day life!
It's been amazing what the Mind can Achieve!

You are a true inspiration to many who feel very depressed for a long time.Initial shock and anxiety should be dealt with calmly.I sat and cried for five minutes. Then told my self ,brace up,what next..Aceptance is the first step towards clarity. You have that .So all will be well. All our best wishes are with you
