Three months after colon resection I had a severe stomach cramp this morning and have not had a bowel movement yet. This is the first time this has happened. So far things have been good.

Hello i’m 38 years old and had a resection done due to diverticulitis grandfather, father had the same issue surgery was on december 3rd 2020 and about 1 month after felt great normal again but that last 2 weeks after that very sharp pain pulling pain doctor doesn’t know why the pain is all day can’t sleep without pain killers i’ve done CT ,ultrasound, blood work ,urinate, fecis and nothing doing pancreas test tuesday not expecting any issues blood work was good. I thank you guys for the tips for feeling better and I have one for you the pill is called Tributine I’m not sure it’s available here in the usa my friend bought it in Colombia the pharmacist recommended it. Guys this thing works I feel so much better I would say 80% better because it’s still there but I highly recommend it and please if you guys figure out why the pain please let me know. thank you
I’m 5 months out and feel much better now than at 3 months. 3 month mark was tough. I still get bloated and have pain but drinking water (a ton) along with understanding what food cause me pain has made a big difference and more healing time. Even at 5 months - certain foods kill me like anything raw (salads), dry and crunchy or fried. I did change my fiber supplement last month and the bloating has gotten better. Hang in there!
Thank you I try drinking more water and what fiber supplement do you recommend? thank you
For me, I think the pain is trapped gas plus some nerve pain above the main incision. Metamucil seems to work but that also makes you bloated. I'm hoping to get closer to normal soon. But I have good and bad days.
I switched to miralax but you may want to speak to your doctor. I’m sure everyone handles fiber supplements differently. I’m also more on the constipated side so I have slowly been getting off of it all together and it’s making me feel a lot better and I take a stool softener as needed.
ok thank very much I hope you’re 100% soon 🙏
I go back and forth with my fiber drink (metamucil-although there are different brands-you may have to try a few), ClearLax (polyethylene Glycol 3350) Walmart brand and Dulcolax liquid. This was after a bout of bad constipation and a trip to the ER after I had my one year follow up colonoscopy. I figured out that I could not go more than two days with no elimination. Got myself in trouble, but learned a lot. Just don’t have the storage room I once had.(list a couple of feet if colon, included my sigmoid area). This seems to be working for me. My doctor has ok’d my continued use of these products. I don’t about my continued use, My “new” normal🤣🤣🤣. I actually feel pretty good. Doing this and exercising daily works for me. I’m sure you will (in time) find what works for you. virgo52
Yes ,,,,, new normal 👍👍👍👍👍
Yea hi , my resection was due to diverticulitis as well, your post op symptoms are very similar to mine so hopefully I’ll be a lot better in a couple of months. Thanks
