Has anyone experienced dizziness with medication for PMR?

Posted by lindaadele @lindaadele, Jun 9 5:03pm

I have been taking low-dose methotrexate tablets for three months and I am experiencing dizziness. My rheumatologist had me stop the methotrexate. Has anyone experienced dizziness from any of medication’s that they are taking for the PMR?

Thank you so very much for your response!!! I thought my dizziness was improving but all of a sudden it came back. This dizziness is really a mystery to me. I don’t think the doctors have any idea what’s going on either and why I have dizziness. I really think it’s taking methotrexate. I realize that I had side effects since I was younger too many many medication‘s. Right now I am not taking anything sfor my PMR. I am hoping one of these days the dizziness is going to go away even though it’s better than it has been. it’s still there which makes me nervous!!!

I still have dizziness. The rheumatologist does not seem to be concerned however, I’m about ready to get a second opinion from my GP, ENT, specialist, or neurologist.

This dizziness situation is so frustrating and I never got a real answer to why I am dizzy sometimes and I really believe most of the doctors have no idea either what is causing the dizziness. this is like a mystery to everyone which is not comforting to me because I really would like to know why I am dizzy sometimes! I wish you the very best with your dizziness going forward and I understand exactly how you feel. For me it’s not a comfortable feeling to not know why no one knows what’s going on. I am hoping that overtime the dizziness will slow down a lot and eventually disappear. Again my very best wishes to you and please keep in touch with me. Thank you very much for responding!!!

I was looking over my comments about dizziness with PMR. My dizziness is not as bad as it was. You mention that the only medication you’re taking for your PMR is over-the-counter pain medication. What medications works the best for you to relieve your pain from PMR ? I figured out that my body cannot handle many medication‘s since I was young! I would very much appreciate any information that you can give me! Thank you very much for your response!!! my very very best wishes to you!!!

I am on methyprednisolone. I eently developed some dizziness and realized it was from the new Melatonian I began to use use called Natrol. I stopped using it and the dizziness went away.
I reccently lowered my steroid dose from 4mg to 3mg and was having recurring PMR symptoms in the AM. I started taking 2 pills of extra strength Tylenol in the early AM rather than increase the steroid dose and that has resolved the PMR symptoms.

I forgot to mention in my last comment that the rheumatologist said it takes about two months for the for the methotrexate to wash out of your body. Of course everybody is different and I read that it could take 4 to 6 months give or take to wash out of your body who knows. I am still taking one day at a time and hoping for the best. Again good luck to you and keep me posted on how things go. my best wishes to you!!!

How are you doing with your dizziness? I am off my two medication’s since June 1. I have good days and bad days and times my legs feel weak and of course I get very nervous. Right now I I am taking nothing for my PMR. I am sure my inflammation is high!! I have an appointment with my rheumatologist in two weeks and I will see what she has to say as I am not taking any more medication’s at this time because of the situations I have with all of my medication‘s. This dizziness is very confusing because sometimes I feel OK and other times I feel dizzy. I would love to hear from you and find out how you’re doing. My very very best wishes to you!!! I hope you feel better and better as time goes by!!!

I have been dizzy for over three weeks. I believe it’s from one of the medication‘s that I took as I am very sensitive to any medication‘s for PMR. I have been to the ER and many doctors and they are all oblivious to what is causing my dizziness. If any of you can tell me how you coped with your dizziness I would really really appreciate it! Thank you very much!

Dizziness occurred asvI was tapering from 5 mg to 0 mg Prednisone. I found drinking a copious amount of water helped until I could stabilize. Now I have been off Prednisone for 3 weeks, only slight dizziness once until I consumed much water. I take 1 mg Tylenol on mornings I feel pain in my shoulders, but so far I have weaned off Prednisone without the other drugs discussed often on this thread. I do wonder if the meds are worse than PMR, if you can lick the pain and let your adrenal glands come back with cortisol slowly. Drink your water.
