Pineal Cyst: What symptoms led to your diagnosis?

Posted by Jeep @jeep, Aug 18, 2011

Seems that we've found that I Have a Pineal Cyst. It was discovered while investigating tinitis and vertigo issues. Nurosurgeon says it's not the cause of my symptoms. Other discussions I've read show many folks with PC having similar symptoms and similar conclusions by thier neurologist. Symptoms include visual disturbances (eye strain), diziness, fatigue, constant tinitis- often pulsatile, constant low-grade headache. The only relief is occassional doses of Lorazapam.

Anybody have any insight?

Thanks

This comment is really old, but those symptoms from Patel match my son's. His cyst is 1 cm.

15 years ago my occasional migraine headaches became unbearable and Imitrex quit working, and the migraines lasted for days. An MRI found a cyst on my pineal gland, but I was told it was harmless. The neurologist prescribed Verapamil which greatly relieved the migraines. I have several symptoms that until today I did not connect with the pineal glad cyst: episodes of vertical double vision, tinnitus, hearing reduction, short term memory problems at times, insomnia, anxiety, episodes of loss of balance, this especially happens when I look up, nystagmus. (I do however have a lazy eye.) I recently figured out that vitamins were causing some of my migraines. Melatonin also gives me headaches. I have not been able to figure out which vitamins or what in the vitamins causes the migraines. I have had a roux en y gastric bypass 18 or so years ago which has caused hypoglycemia. My last MRI was in 2018. At that time the pineal cyst was 1.4 cm x 1.2 x 1.1 in size. It is comforting to read that others have had these symptoms also.
