Excruciating pain in both knees after 4 years of total knee replacemen
Suddenly one night after 4-5 years of total knee replacements I woke up with excruciating pain in both knees. It was so bad that I couldn’t stand up. Prior to that I was normal except that sometimes I did experience some pain at the side of kness. The X rays were normal. I would really know the cause. I was given pain medication in the emergency room and advised to go back the surgeon who performed the surgery. Please help

I am so sorry so sorry you have suffered such pain. Although there is no medical advice on here, hopefully you can receive some encouragement.
Have you gone back to the surgeon yet? That seems like best source for you.
Maybe someone else on here has had similar pain and can share the
decisions that led to resolution of the pain. Keep us posted and all best wishes.
Sounds pretty scary. When I hurt all the sudden out of the blue, it often turns out that I have a flu or something. Sure it might be the surgery but sounds like it could just as likely be something else. That is why you posted. Keep looking. I get odd pains now and then and if it isn’t a bug, it usually is some sort of out of the ordinary movement I did. Twisting, lifting, etc. What movements make the pain worse? Keep a diary. Both knees at once is probably not the surgery but your surgeon or a (good) physical therapist could probably point you towards movements that are likely to cause your type of pain.
I randomly hurt my back a month or so ago and then later noticed laying on a wadded up bit of my sheet hurt me in the same place. Everything has a cause but it could be totally random.

1 ReactionSounds like scar tissue to me and you should definitely visit your surgeon‘s office or at least call their triage team
