Eileen here, I have recently been diagnosed with Supra Ventricular Tachycardia. I live in South Africa and have been daily dipping in the Atlantic Ocean for the last 2 years. The water temperature is between 10 to 15 degrees celsius. I dip for about 10 minutes and it is wonderfully stimulating and energizing for me as a big group of friends do this together. Does anyone have any information in this regard? I would love to continue with this exercise?

Hi! I had a form of SVT called Wolff Parkinson White syndrome, but had a surgical procedure called catheter ablation when I was a teenager and haven’t had any problems since. They didn’t know I had this much more serious type of SVT until I was older, so I took medicine since I was like 8 years old, called Kalan SR I think? It was supposed to be preventative and my symptoms would go away as I got older…they didn’t, hence the surgery. But anyway, the main activity that would bring on an episode was swimming, but only if it was laps or extensive exercise. The only thing I DEFINITELY wasn’t allowed to do was get certified for scuba diving, bc I wanted to take classes. I would ask your cardiologist just to be safe, esp if it hasn’t been that long since you were diagnosed. Hope that helps!
