Vaccinations: what are your plans for fall and winter?

A note- this message is intended for folks who are interested in vaccines to cope with their reduced immunity post transplant. If you do not think vaccines are important, please be respectful.

Last weekend I obtained my Covid vaccine booster and scheduled a flu vaccine for early October. I’m told that the Covid vaccine I received is the same one (for the same strain) that I’ve already received twice last year. When I made an appointment for a flu shot in early October I was told that there were currently no plans for the federal government to research and send to the public an updated flu vaccine as has been the case for decades.

Last summer I experienced a terrible Covid and had to be hospitalized for a while, it was scary, not to be repeated if possible.

What are you doing to manage your suppressed immune system this fall/winter?

Yes they are in contact. And as far as what’s next. My living donors can fill out their health questionnaires and then get blood work done. So wait and see if there is a match.

The new covid vaccine was delivered to the neighborhood CVS today!
I stopped in on my way home to check if they had any updated information, and - the updated vaccine had just been delivered. But I had to go home to schedule my vaccine appointment on line. Tomorrow at 3:00 PM for me and my husband ! We will get Pfizer which we have had previously without bothersome side effects.

Good to know! I just got an old one- my MassGen team seemed pessimistic about a new vaccine as did my local pharmacist. Hopefully the old one lasts until March but who knows.

Have been following this thread. Since my one year anniversary is coming up and I can get vaccinated again, I spoke with my pharmacist this morning. All the vaccines are the most current except Covid which arrives the end of October.
