I think steveduke is saying that the people on this forum are not doctors and you should listen to doctors you trust. If you are skeptical of the first two opinions you can get a third one. My hematologist is a researcher who studies my disease and I don’t especially like him but I trust him. My hemoglobin has been as low as 8.5, currently 11, and I sometimes have blasts and sometimes not. Your numbers will change from time to time and you shouldn’t panic at the slightest change. I have had CMML and myelofibrosis for ten years and I’m doing fine. Blood cancers are not an automatic death sentence. Find a hemotogist/oncologist who specializes in your disease and do what they say. Don’t panic, because there are worse things you could have. I consider myself lucky when I see young women with small children with ports for chemo and no hair. You can go on for a lot of years if you find the right doctor and treatment.
