I’ve had PMR since last September I’m currently on 7.5 mg of prednisone down from 10. Past two days I’m totally pain free all day. Even when I wake up in morning. I’m shocked

👏👏👏👏👏
Enjoy it.
May I ask what dosage you began with and how quickly you lowered the mg?
I was diagnosed in March and am down to 6.5, but the pain is back.
Does anyone experience mood changes as you decrease your prednisone? I have come down from 10 mg to 8 mg so far
Hi
Your diagnosis of PMR and treatment is going to be unique to all of us. Remember prednisone is doing the job of the adrenals/cortisol. PMR can burn out at some point as well. Tapering will absolutely vary with individuals. My own experience is I was pain free on 2mg and now that I’m completely off the drug for 2 months, I contend with aches and pains daily but nothing that keeps me in bed or doing my usual routine. I need to nap every afternoon however. I’m managing my PMR more successfully with an anti inflammatory diet, exercise and use of an infrared sauna almost daily. I’ve also begun a routine with Ayurveda under supervision. It’s all helping. It was tempting to go back on the prednisone but being aware of long term use/side effects, I chose an alternative approach. This too will vary for each of us. I wish you the best in your journey towards health and wellness.
Thank you,
I have been on a second dose of Kevzara and reducing Prednisone. I also adopted the anti inflammatory diet and hope to get off all medication as soon as I can.
I wish I had more alternative medicine help before beginning my journey with Prednisone. But I do my best reading and learning the natural ways. I keep low grade daily exercises, light yoga and Thai chi. I found it very helpful.
I hope to hear more from people that are using alternative aproach.
Can you tell me how its going with the kevzara? I will be starting it very soon. Currently on 10mg of prednisone but still having quite a bit of pain and lack of ability to reach for things without significant pain. Feeling hopeful.
It me took 3 months for the full effects of Kevzara.
I used Tylenol for Arthritis during the hard days of taper.
I had a rapid positive response to Kevzara. Both in term of symptoms as well as the markers that suddenly were normal. But the effect was reduced after about 10 or 12 days .My Rheumatologist instructed me to reduce prednisone by 1mg each week.
I now am on the second shot and feel fine. I live in a retirement home and dinner is in a large room with many people so I worry about catching an infection since both prednisone and Kevzara suppress my immunity.
I stay on anti inflammatory diet and hope this and other holistic methods will help me to get off both medications.
I took my 3rd Kevzara injection today and dropped my Pred down to 10mg. My Rhumatologist has me dropping sky dose down every two weeks when I give me a Kevzara injection down 2.5 mg. So far so good. I have had no side effects so far.
I've had 11 doses of Kevzara so far, with no side affects. I'm hoping to be off prednisone within the next few weeks.
