I been taking HCQ for 2 years after tapering of prednisone. No side effects at all. Also I only had the flu once and only for 24 hours. I would like to know if statins drugs are related to PMR. I started statins also before PMR. Thanks
After 7 months of prednisone, I began to experience Macular Degeneration. So my ophthalmologist suggested I switch to HCQ and the rheumatologist agreed. It worked. I slowly switched and then reduced the Hydroxychloroquine over a 2 year period.
PMR has now been in remission for two years.
I took statins for three years prior to getting PMR. And yes, I definitely believe statin drugs are related to PMR.

Good luck with talking to your Dr. Most are pretty closed minded when it comes to statins. I know my Dr harasses me every time I see him. I am on a chat group called HealthUnlocked which is made up of PMR patients in the U.K. and Italy. One thing they all have in common is statins. (Most still take them, even though I told them what I think about statins.

I believe the same; also I had 2 Covid shots prior to PMR. Are you still taking the statins? I’ll be taking to my Dr about this.
