Any suggestions on air purifiers?
Hello. I have asthma with very reactive airways to chemicals, dust, mold, smoke. I’ve been doing research on air purifiers and the amount of literature is not only large but also is quite conflicting. Can anyone recommend a medical quality air purifier that will cover 1,000 sq ft? Has anyone had success with the Austin Air Healthmate Plus? Thanks!

Good morning. I have the standard. I only have one unit right now because that’s all I can afford. It’s on wheels and roles very easily so I move it into my bedroom at night and otherwise I have it in my living room. I have a two bedroom condo with an open living room/kitchen area. My place is a total of 980 square feet so I can make do with one unit for now. The place I ordered mine from, Wellness Junction, was very helpful answering all of my questions. I tried the Austin air plus originally because I also have chemical sensitivities and it is supposed to be better in filtering out VOCs (which the standard does as well) but it gave off a kind of a sweet odor from being potassium iodide infused and that bothered my lungs. I sent that one back and bought the one I have now and it has no odor. These units are loud when on high so I only run mine on high if the outside air quality is particularly bad like with the smoke we’ve been getting from the Canada fires, otherwise I run it on medium. If I had money to spare I’d buy the Jr. for my smaller spare bedroom, I’d put the one I have in my bedroom full time and I’d buy another one of these for my open living area. When I was doing research before I made my decision to purchase, one of the things that sold me on the Austin Air is that the entire casing is metal so there’s no new plastic smell which is extremely important for me. I’m sure there are other good units out there also, this is just the one I ended up thinking would best suit my needs and so far it has. Hope this helps.
@pamglutemedius , I just looked at the Wellness Junction website to see if I could post a link. I forgot about the newest unit which is even a bit more pricey but I think in the future I will try to get for my bedroom and use the one I have in my living room. I’m going to try to post the link here. (I’m pretty techno challenged so we shall see)

I have a Mila in the living room and a Blue in the bedroom. The Mila is amazing. The Blue is also.
