Help Getting Off of Klonopin
I have been on Klonopin for 25 years at 2mg per day and want to get off of this horrible medication. My GP here doesn't know how to help me and since I live in a small town we don't have any therapists that would be able to help me as well. I do not wish to go to a rehab center and need support through what I am going to be going through over the next year.

I am very happy for those who have successfully gotten off Klonopin by cutting their pills, but I would be remiss if I didn't say you need to do this with a Doctor. Also, going down too quickly could be very dangerous.
The Ashton Manual (#1 in the world) and online for free reading and download is the gold standard. Her method is 10% down every one to two weeks and then at the really low doses she recommends 5% down.
No one should feel ashamed or weak if they have problems getting down or off the benzos. They are very addictive drugs and it is very dangerous to get off of them quickly. Don't believe me. Do some reading re Benzodiazapines and the proper way to get off. There is a benzo information site (I am unable to post a link to it for some reason but it is the Benzodiazapine Coalition. Look at the Manual and the Coalition.

That's one of my main problems as when I was originally prescribed this it was for panic attacks when I would get into bed at night over 20+ years ago. There was an association with losing my dog after 17 years and the bed...so long story short...yes, I was originally prescribed this to shut down my mind and panic attacks at 1mg and now at 2mg. Try to get away from both if you can.
I believe you!!! I have done a lot of research and even sent a link to my GP for help. I have an appointment on 09/02 with him...soo we will see how it goes.
I tried to drop my 2mg to 1.5mg last night and I got really sick. That's how bad this drug is. I can do 1.75 with no issues.
It did not go well last night. Now I have to start from scratch at 2mg because when I attempted 1.5mg last night I got very ill. The best way that worked for me was .25mg less for a month and then another .25mg drop but, can't make it below 1.5mg over the last year. I keep hitting brick walls.

Dropping from 2 to 1.5 is a 25% drop ..way too high. Check out the Ashton Manual online for schedules and you will see. Her book is the gold standard
with a very high success rate and the least amount of "pain". Have a look at your med and the suggested timetable.
Good look.
I found that out the hard way by dropping that quickly.
I have read the Ashton manual and am also following Dr Josef Witt-Doerring Psychiatrist With the Taper Clinic. His Youtube videos and taper workbook are really interesting and helpful. Have you heard of him or watched any of his videos? I am going to need all the help I can get.
I think that your reply was meant for me as I can't find an active @nicole1971 since 2013?
Yes, I have seen a couple of Dr. Josef's videos.
Yes, probably I was going too quickly. Glad you caught that.
