RSV vaccine
Has anyone decided to get a RSV vaccine? My doctor told me that it would be wise to get it but honestly I am so afraid to get more shots. I got the Covid shots and unfortunate I was sick the whole month of last December with Covid. The RSV has only been in the market 3 years now I believe but I don’t hear of people getting it. As a matter of fact I am not getting more Covid shots. I read that 15 new mRNA Covid shots will be in the market soon and they are dangerous. So if anyone has decided to receive the RSV I would like to know if possible, if side effects showed up. For so many decades Pharma research has been looking into finding a Cancer vaccine, a Muscular dystrophy vaccine, an Alzheimer’s vaccine and none of those companies have found anything to cure or protect us against those diseases. So how come a Virus so contagious as Covid, which still researchers are studying because they don’t actually know how this virus generates, resulted in the manufacture of Covid vaccines in less than 1 year? How did that happen? Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson had the Covid shots ready….. How about RSV? What is your opinion about it? Thanks in advance

I got the RSV and COVID boosters. I have a troublesome body and immune system so I fit into one of the recommended groups. The only side effect I ever had was that I felt tired for a day so I took it easy. I also had the recommended flu shots.

3 ReactionsI just want to add in to this discussion about vaccines--primarily flu shots. In 1976, when I was 21, influenza almost killed me. I had pleurisy, empyema, and collapsed lungs, and lost about 25% pulmonary capacity forever. I was in the ICU for over a month, and my distraught parents were told I would die. However I did not, and after several more months of hospitalization was discharged. For the past 50 years I've had trouble breathing, walking, digesting, and more. I have fairly severe chronic pain. My current breast cancer was most likely caused by the chest X-rays I received. (Lifesaving diagnostics at the time). I've managed to have a fulfilling life with many adventures, career, and family. Yet that bout of flu disabled me for life. It is a rare reaction, but a young healthy person's immune system can turn against them and destroy the lungs. Flu shots were not common at that time. Before they became widely available, I'd get one yearly through my county's public health system. Now I just get one at the drugstore. The rush of gratitude and relief I feel with each inoculation is wonderful. I'm happy to be alive, but I would not wish my experience on anyone, young or old. So just a testimony to vaccines. A sore arm is nothing compared to a harrowing hospitalization. Stay well!

9 ReactionsBless your heart. You went through so much. Thanks for sharing your story. I think that there is so much fearmongering in social media that it really has affected many people and many are scared of vaccines. It is people’s own decision to get vaccinated or not. We had Covid, the original virus, last December and the symptoms lingered for several months. Both of us got 5 Covid shots & after those, we got infected. Stay strong and healthy.

1 Reaction@joanland My sister is an anti vaxxer based on anecdotal information she reads on Facebook. I prefer to follow the science and likewise I am totally open to considering reasoned scientific evidence against using any type of injectible. Whether Botox or other beauty injectibles or medical aids against Covid or measles or flu or RSV. Or whatever.
We look after our elderly father (90). We have agreed (with our father’s blessing) that when we disagree about any injections he should get, his excellent long term GP has the final say, and we will all abide by her call.
My father has had all the Covid shots and boosters plus annual flu jabs. He recently had the RSV as well as the new Shingrix jab.
He was totally fine during and after them all - just a sore arm for the day after Shingrix.

6 ReactionsI took the over 65 flu vac and so did my Mother who was probably about 80 something then.. I was just turned 65.. made us both soo sick.. for a week.. but then we switched back to the regular one and go one every year since just fine..IDK what the difference is.. but she was supersensitive to meds ( she passed July3 at 95) and I'm just like her..so that was our experience.. I pray about it every time that's for sure!!

4 ReactionsYou too! And thanks for your kind words.
One week after my 5th COVID booster, I got COVID, but it only lasted 4-5 days, and I was not very sick with it. I will get whatever vaccine my doctor suggests because I think she has access to much better information than one gets on Facebook!!

3 ReactionsI’m 78, had the recommended vaccinations and I’m in excellent health. I have had maybe 2 colds since Covid came on the scene. I followed all recommended protocols while witnessing the deaths of neighbors and long time friends that neglected them. Proof enough for this old Georgia/Texas boy.

10 Reactions@dockpost That’s very sensible. My father is in rude good health, as the saying goes! Touch wood that it continues for many more years.
He has been fortunate not to get COVID, yet, and hopefully he will continue to avoid it.
He has the very occasional bout of flu but, thanks to his jabs and GP oversight, very mild.
At his age it is very worrying when he does get flu of any sort because it can become pneumonia so quickly. The jabs (all approved by his GP) work very well for him.
Wishing you continued good health ❤️🩹
