Surf is UP !!!! @@
So- here we go ! 😣
The time has FINALLY come, but at the same time "suddenly” ... This Tuesday (tomorrow) my husband is having surgery at noon and according to written instructions he will be released next day to go home.
I am so very fortunate that our younger daughter lives in the same area so she will be giving us a ride and keep me company during procedure, otherwise the surgeon would be forced to put me "under" too 🥴 to stop my crazy pacing through corridors.
We are ready as much as one can be ready, all is sanitized, cleaned, cooked, folded and sparkly and stored in one place so there is no guessing "where the heck is that Senokot" 🙄. My brain is scrambled completely because of the stress and I feel like my fellow posters here that are on ADT - yesterday I called a bookcase "the thing with boards and books" XP.
Prayers and good vibes are welcome : ))), and I will keep you all posted about everything.
I also want to use this opportunity to thank everybody on this forum for every advice and every comforting word that I received since I came here in February (or was it March ?), I can not remember since all of those months are one very loooong blurry day that never ended ....
I will leave you now with a short poem : )) and will post again as soon as I can : ). HUGSSSS to allll !!!
If you believe in fairies,
ask them,
If you believe in God,
ask him,
If you believe in destiny,
ask it,
Ask them all to send healing
for surfer who sailed the seas,
trying to find peace,
but never found it.
Ask for gentle waves and siren songs,
the mistral breeze to bring him home.
I’ll be waiting,
forever,
without a cease.

Hi Surftohealth
Did I miss something? Did you husbands path report come back and some of the cancer remains?
I am thinking about you two

1 ReactionPeter, I replied to you but my post somehow did not pass "censorship" here, I have no idea why 😵💫- anyhow , I wrote to you that I will watch him like a hawk - maybe "hawk" became some controversial word on this forum 😂
Thanks for advice : )))

1 ReactionYes Ed, margins are somehow "inconclusive" 😡 in one and the most important spot ! If you want to read the whole caboodle please find all of the maddening info in my new thread "Pathology - bahhhh "
Thanks so much for checking on us and for thinking about us 💗
I'm glad your husband is doing well. 🙂 Sorry about that path report but you both seem to be taking this in stride. Once that cath comes out his healing will speed up and he will start feeling much better. I said every profane word when I chucked that huge collection tub and when I chucked that compression garment I almost cried.

3 ReactionsThanks Jay - well, what one can do but "stride forward" ; ), and hope for the best. My husband is doing much better than me (regarding report) but I am putting brave face on regardless of how I feel for his sake 🥰. Underneath my mask I am slowly suffocating and grasping for air ;).
This. Absolutely this.
The emotional side of this whole thing is pretty tough.
You'll find that once he's free of the catheter, your moods will both be noticeably improved.
Being chained to that tube will drive anyone crazy & things will definitely feel better once that's out & he can feel even slightly more normal.
(also, the actual catheter removal isn't anywhere near as traumatic as his imagination is no doubt telling him. Over in 5 seconds).

3 ReactionsDAY 7 : )))
It is hard to believe that a whole week passed since surgery ! One more day and catheter goes out 🙂 !
Today was really non eventful day, no pain, no discomfort of any kind, normal healthy diet. There is little bit of pressure at the bottom of pelvic floor when he sits upright on a hard surface (like wood outdoor bench).
Urine in a big bag is looking light yellow and is completely colorless and clear in catheter. Today there was no tiny blood droplets on the tip of penis after BMs either 👍. He still drinks ton of herbal teas and I would strongly recommend Greek Mountain Tea - it made wonders for his speedy recovery in general. (Latin name of the plant is Sideritis scardica). Our whole family loves that tea but if you are not familiar with mountain herbs , I would compare it's aroma to combination of thyme and sage notes. Goes wonderfully with just a touch of orange blossom honey or Manuka honey.
We do not check his vitals any more since all is the same and recovery has advanced to the point of "feeling like before".
He is still taking Colace because it is required in instructions but now he is taking it only before going to bed.
All in all - very successful recovery day 😎👍

1 ReactionDay 10 : )))
This is going to be last report in this thread, since recovery is done and catheter is out as of yesterday 👍😊.
"Patient" is completely back to normal 😊. The only things that he is not doing are those that are listed on pos-op instructions - no lifting, not sit-ups, not biking etc.
His continence is pretty good 😎, even better today than yesterday. Today he decided that pads are more than sufficient and so far very minor squirts only when bending down to tie his shoes, for example. He went out to bring take-out, drove , got out , took food, drove back etc etc - dry !!! He also has no leaks when coughing or laughing or pulling up jeans etc.. Somehow that bending forward and down motion puts pressure on his bladder, and his sphincter is yet not fully recovered 100% from surgery. To be honest - we never expected him to be fully continent on day 2, and even this level of minor squirts exceeded our expectations BY FAR 🥰.
Wishing all future patients as fast and as uneventful recovery and the best of luck with everything 🤗 ✨
