Replies to "I saw Dr Burdick at Phoenix Mayo and had Linx surgery by Dr. Harold there also,..."
Thank you for the reply and information about Linx. I Don’t know yet what myPrognosis is so am concerned since I do not know what to expect. They found a cancer cell in June in biopsy but nothing showed up in the endoscopy of sept 29. So I guess I wait to see what developes by the next endoscopy in December 6. Has any one had cryotherapy which is a freezing treatment? How does it compare to the RFA? Thanks in advance for any comments.
Where do you Iive and go for treatment? I have been toMD Anderson one time but have had three treatments here in Dallas. With a local GI doctor. I may decide to go back toMD Anderson after this next treatment in December depending on the condition
I have obviously had reflux over the past 20 years but have not had any reflux in the past year that I can recall the 40mg proton I had kept me from having heartburn or reflux where I have the contents come back up my esophagus. So it surprises me that I don’t seem to hVe much symptoms but I still have high dysplasia. I have just wondered if it goes away completely after how many ? treatments.
I appreciate your report. Sounds like yours might be under control. I wonder if I should return to MD ANDERSON instead of going locally in Dallas. Perhaps after the next scope.
Personally since the did find cancer in June I would go to the best hospital you can afford. I don't think you want your esophagus removed. I love my DR. and his team @ Mayo in Rochester and I'm now on the Southern OR coast like 2000 miles away from MN.
Who is your doctor at Mayo? I have thought of going there just for a consultation on What their treatment plan would be. I would like to know about you but I guess that is not kosher to be too personal. You are the one of two who have had treatment and issues. I am thinking of calling and making an appt to go back to MDAnderson for my next appt in December but the issue had always been my single mother daughter with two young children cannot always take off for two days to take me. I keep trying to work it out. The local doctor did an EMR instead of the RFA and it was not really necessary as the doctor suggested from MDA and I am afraid that will set me back a bit. I want to keep my esophagus working well as long as I can. THANKS FOR SHARING. How long have you been on treatment for high dysplasia? Mine has been since Feb (9 months) I am hoping it will go away in the next two treatments but like you it could always come back. I don’t know your age or sex or but can’t help but wonder. Ciao
Dr Wang is my MD at Mayo in Rochester and as I told others on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest he is a 12. When meeting with him he doesn't rush you at all. Super nice and his staff is great. My High Dysplasia lasted for 2 treatments but Barrett's comes and goes. Good luck, Dave
You can’t feel Barrett’s Esophagus. I was diagnosed with it in 2008 after an endoscopy. I took Prilosec every day since then and then in June 2016 some changes started happening with cells in the esophagus. It was diagnosed as LowDysplasia then in February it was diagnosed as high dysplasia. I have had two RFA and two EMR and WILL GO BACK FOR A RFA IN Dec. I just wonder if anyone Out there had been cured of the high dysplasia or if it did go into cancer. I wouldLove to Hear from someone about this. Linda
