Oh wow same situation here! I thought this was so unusual. Found out in Colonoscopy early tho had a polyp with squamous cell carcinoma but the Surgeon was afraid if he did surgery he could have accidentally cut my muscle in my anus because the polyp with cancer on it was on a muscle. If he accidentally cut that muscle I wb incontinent, so they decided to treat it like anal cancer. I had 28 treatments of radiation and 28 days of chemo pills didn’t notice any problems til the 24th treatment started feeling a lil burning by the 25 th full blown irritation! I have 3 more treatments and want to quit! It’s so painful to use the restroom, some bleeding ! Didn’t expect this at all! It hurts so bad! I wish I had started the cream early on. I said I’m going to mention to the Dr they should recommend to their patients, as I think it wb beneficial! It was too risky cutting the polyp out, but sometimes I wish I should have just done that and trusted God! I was happy to see your comment, as I thought I was the only one ! May God continue to bless you!

Wow, so close to the finish! I agree with @samclembeau that you could discuss with oncologist if it is unbearable. If you do not have a ointment, you may want to try strata xrt. It is a prescription, but they had samples at my oncologist’s office and although my insurance did not cover it, the sample was so good it was well worth the price. Also, I hope that the worst is “behind” you… Good luck and god bless!

I can so relate to what you’re going through. I’ve been treated for anal cancer. I had 6 weeks of Xeloda and radiation. The damage and pain from the radiation was awful. There was a week when I could only wear a robe. It completely destroyed my sphincter muscle. I spent a year either looking for a bathroom or being in one. A bidet really helped along with Aquaphor cream.I ended up getting a colostomy. October will be 2 years since my surgery. The colostomy has given me back my life.
