Low platelets: Investigating the cause
I have low platelets starting in Aug 2023 (133) May 2024 (127) Sept 2024 (120). Also
MPV high Sept 2024 (12.7)
IGA high Sept 2024 (0.7)
Mono Auto high Sept 2024 (14.4)
Neutrophil Auto low Sept 2024 (1,52)
A1C high 6.3
Next blood draw March 2025 (cbc and a1c)...just wonder if I should have been referred at this point? My only concern is that I did daycare for four years in my daughter's prior home that now has been tested and has high PFAS levels in water as much of Michigan does.

I saw similar pattern w.r.to Iron, Hemoglobin and Platelets in my case. My Platelets during July 2025 before a surgery was at about 100. I even had my Gallbladder removed in 2022. I am currently under the care of my PCP and my Gastroenterologist.
My Hematologist also did all the tests he could think of and found nothing. However, I do have a known issue with my Liver diagnosed as NASH Level 3 to 4 and Cirrhotic granular surface. This certainly appears to be the primary cause of dropping Platelets and Anemia. At this time, all I can think of doing is watch my food, exercise (I walk about 3 miles a day) and take medicines prescribed (Pioglitazone and Ursodiol) by my Gastro enterologist. Off course, I am also taking on several alternate medicines like Turmeric with Bioperene, Paya Leaf Extract, Iron Supplements (Herbal), Total Beets etc. Yet to see if they are working on or not. I am also trying to do Intermittent fasting for about 18 hours. This is keeping my energy levels well and still working a full time Job as an engineer (at 69+). I try to meditate, pray every day and rest well. All this is mainly to ensure it doesn't get any worse than what it already is, keep my peace of mind.
Hope this feedback helps to find your own way to handle your situation.
God Bless!
Hello Patty,
My family doctor has referred me to Hematologist. I am in the process of scheduling an appointment with the Hematologist.
