To me (not a doctor, but a scientist by education), I would question the Fosamax.
My doc wants me to consider a pharmaceutical too, but I am resistant. Instead, I am striving to add more weight bearing exercise (check out Will Harlow on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch), as well as just more exercise.
As for supplements, I have yet to find a Bone/Osteo supplement that combines what I want, so I use:
2 Calcium / Magnesium Citrate combo (Pure Encapsulations). This is a fairly low dose, but absorbable forms.
0-1-2 additional Calcium Citrate (Solaray or Pure Encapsulations). Depends on how much calcium was in my diet that day.
1 vitamin D3/K2 combo supplement (Zahler). Occasionally, I switch off to just Carlson's chewable D3.
1 sustained released B12 (Bronson).
I also take a multi most days (Centrum women 50+).
In about 9 months I'll retake the DEXA and see if this regime helped.
As I've noted elsewhere, a friend (80+ years old) was told by her doctor to drink 2 glasses of Almond Milk (which is fortified with calcium carbonate) a day. Her density improved - moving her from osteoporosis to osteopenia.
I'm sure there is no magic bullet, and trial and error is necessary. Keep in mind that while we are all human, each of our bodies are a little different. 🙂
Good luck!

I wonder if it is because the bones of a 30 year old are at the peak of their functioning and structure? I imagine that compared to someone that is 72 and hada dexa that would tell them alot about our deterioration from an arbitrary "norm" what has your doc told you about his decision making. It is not unusual for physicians to start with fosamax. It is also cheaper and the insurance companies love that. I'd want to have her go over in depth why this drug now? What is it's function? Why not a bone builder like tymlos, forteo or evenity? What is it about my particular history that leads you in this direction? What is the long term drug sequence and why. Then you can evaluate after doing your own research.
