When I’m off steroids I get the same cough that you are talking about. It’s extremely deep and seems that my entire upper body is coughing. I’ve had some strained muscles because of the coughing as well. I’ve found water with ice in it (in an insulated cup) with help stop the coughing at night. I also take menthol sugar free cough drops (I learned the hard way about all the sugar in cough drops & the effect on teeth).
As for the eye infection, I had 4 instances where I thought I had pink eye & was treated in 2025. Turns out, I may not have ever had pink eye. The ophthalmologist prescribed Tobradex drops for a week & that solved it. Along with me using eye drops daily, which I still use. Per the ophthalmologist, I’m using Refresh Optive Mega-3 lubricant eye drops. Those helped even more than the prescription Tobradex. I still use the Refresh drops daily & haven’t had any more problems.

Thanks. The dr. also prescribed Tobradex but I did not like the way my eyes felt and when reading of the side effects I wasn't impressed. I notice Bausch & Lomb has Soothe Antibiotic Drops for eye and ear infections. I'm going to give that a try and also take a look at the Refresh drops you mentioned. My Nurse Practitioner's receptionist also recommended Prospan Helixia Cough medicine, made with ivy leaf. It's very mild tasting but it does definitely loosen the mucus and phlegm. I only take a 1/4 tsp. as it can upset the digestive system. Wishing everybody the best and God's blessing in what seems a never-ending battle. We press on!!
