Hi pacathy,
I’m sorry I haven’t been on for a while and missed seeing your message until now. By now, you may already have decided to go ahead with Dupixent and if so I really hope it gives you the results that you are looking for and need.
If you have started Dupixent, my advice would be to stay very mindful of any new and/or negative changes in your body or how your feeling, even if you think of it as the smallest things( often the smallest things that are overlooked and can turn into bigger things quickly connect with your doctor immediately and don’t let it go.
You may not experience any side effects (and I hope that will be the case for you) but again, please don’t ignore or hesitate to be proactive with your doctor if you do.
All the very best to you!
I haven’t used Dupixent, however my brother did. He was treated for several months without complications and was doing well on it. For reasons unknown to date, he developed a horrible and painful rash on his legs, neck, buttocks and arms. His legs became swollen to twice their normal size. He was prescribed steroids and while they didn’t take the rash away completely, they reduced it to a less severe condition. He and his doctor have been trying to find a remedy and have yet to find anything to clear the rash that continues to interfere with his life.
That is what happened to him from taking Dupixent. It was good until it wasn’t. He has medical issues that include lifelong eczema, asthma and Type 1 diabetes and it’s difficult to know if his sudden reaction had anything to do with any of those issues.
The best thing to do before starting any new medication is to have a in-depth discussion with your doctor about any issues that could potentially cause a reaction and if you decide to start it, start with the lowest dose possible and slowly increase depending on how well you’re doing.
All the best!
