Is anyone here using FORTEO or has used it within the last 2 years?

I always have a little drop on the needle. No big deal. And there's always some left in the pen after 28 days. I just figured that was normal. Trying not to stress over it.

nwyatt, of course, you don't stress about those little drops. Your results are so over the top that any more little drops and you'll be competing with Jack in the beanstalk.

I am wondering how you afford it. I am currently waiting on RX,
But I looked up the cost with my Medicare and it is ridiculous. Even Good RX IS EXPENSIVE!!!

I am in Canada I just started it a month ago and my Healthcare covers 80% then my pharmacy had me call the company and they cover the other 20%, so I don't pay anything

Has anyone had improved T Scores with Forteo or similar medications? Any side effects though I didn't have issue with Fosamax or the generic, alendronate. Fosamax definitely was easier on my GI system than the generic but still tolerable and it worked.

I did the Forteo injections for 18 months. My Dexa after 12 months showed a 22% increase in bone density. I went from -3.5 to -1.9. I didn't have another Dexa after the full 18 months so I have no idea what it is now. The injections were easy. I had some side effects fatigue, brain fog and weight gain but that is worth not having any more compression fractures. I did a Reclast infusion (done yearly) to "lock in" the gain.

Did you do the full dose of reclast or a smaller dose?

Hi
I just started forteo 5 weeks ago and I'm having some side effects with fatigue and nausea can you tell me if you had your side effects the whole time. I'm really struggling with this fatigue I'm seeing my GP next week to get my blood work done to make sure my calcium has not gone up. Did you have any issues with your calcium going up.

Sue, I'm sorry I haven't replied sooner. I didn't have nausea but did get fatigued every afternoon and it lasted the whole time. If I had time I would take a short nap otherwise I had coffee, even though it's not good, just so I could make it through. I took my shot in the evening before bed. That might help with nausea - you essentially sleep through it. My calcium never went up either. I hope your side effects lessen and that you have a good response to the drug.

I did the full dose but asked them to administer it over a longer period. I did get pretty bad flu like symptoms for a couple of days then swelling in my feet, followed by joint pain that moved to different parts - shoulder, neck, legs but now I feel pretty good.
