@michele92 I have GERD and generalized anxiety so I get chest pains from time to time. In earlier years I was prescribed nitroglycerin sublingual tablets, but one day I was away from home without my tablets, so I decided to get a drink of water. A few sips and the pain eased off! The next time I had chest pain I again took some sips of water and the pain subsided. So I stopped the tablets (I let my doctor know, of course - I believe no medication should be stopped without one’s doctor’s knowledge!) and now I make sure I have a water bottle handy at my bedside because more often then not, that’s when I get my chest pains.

I googled Takosubo because I had never heard of this condition (I learn a lot through these Mayo Clinic Connection discussion threads!) and this is what I found:

Thank you for the information you suggested. I was treated earlier for GERD without any comfort. I have subsequently been diagnosed after a angiogram provocation test to have MVD. They have tried multiple medications without any relief. But I appreciate your consideration with what has worked for you. Yes the Takotsubo is an interesting read without complete results as well.
