Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?

Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

Only thing Gabapentin did for me was make me gain weight. I am taking 120mg Duloxetine along with 600mg Pregabalin daily for pain control (nerve and chronic joint and other body pain). Works well most of the time. If I do something too physical I get more breakthrough pain. I take Duloxetine in the morning and by taking Pregabalin in the evening hours I sleep better. Duloxetine helps all day long and nerve pain doesn’t keep me awake at night any longer. As an added note I recently attempted to double my Duloxetine and keep Pregabalin at 150mg twice daily for all the pain. Did not work as I developed tardive dyskinesia so dropped Duloxetine dosage back and increased Pregabalin. So far it is working and I’m able to stay asleep.

I took it for fibromyalgia nerve pain. It worked for 4 months and then stopped. Also made my emotions dead, and libido was gone. I tried to get off of it myself and literally went psychotic. It took 3 years, 3 months, and 19 days to taper off. It was the scariest thing ever and if I tried to go any faster I wanted to unalive myself. I just wish the doctor would of told me before I started the medication that this could happen. Some people do ok on it, but the ones that don't have a horrible time.

I've not ever taken it but a friend was and coming off of it was like coming of cocaine. She got down to 5mg and had to go back up with withdrawal. My dr said she would never put anyone on it. Either way I hope if you vome off that this post helps you know to come off of it very, very slowly. I've had Drs not pay attention to a slow withdrawal even from antidepressants and ended up with rebound depression worse than I had ever had in my life.

So, when I came off paxil, knowing that people got zaps, I Literally came off over a year! A very very slow detox from a start of 60mg. I never got zaps. There is no such thing as too slow. 👍🏼

So i stopped them all (Cymbalta, Lyrica and Gabapentin) because of no relief and terrible side effects . I'm now taking 300 mg magnesium glyconate, 600 mg ALA and socks with soap in them in my bed at night. Also use aches and pains balm for break thru pain. It's working for now.!! Lol

I have been on it for 10 years. I originally began taking this after a severe attack of depression. I was prescribed in concert with Alprazolam to control depression and anxiety, and weened myself off the Alprazolam a year ago. I was going to get off of the Duloxetine but my pcp said he wouldn't take me off as it is helpful with fibromyalgia., however I don' t see any help with that. I know it is very difficult to kick when ready.
