I had my sigmoid colon removed in January at Mayo Clinic. In the past I had tried different fibers, all of which either did not work, or caused way too much discomfort. A few months post-op when I was experiencing irregularity, on the advice of my Mayo Colorectal Surgeon’s office, I was advised to take soluble fiber only, either Benefiber or Heather’s Tummy Fiber. I went with Heather’s and started slow, and it has been the best solution for regulating my system without any side effects. I leveled out on a very low dose, because that’s what my system tolerates.
Wishing you the best of luck.

Thank you for the advice.

Hi! I take Heather's Tummy Tamers, they're peppermint capsules. I have her fiber as well, but fiber doesn't seem to be my friend? My nutritionist doesn't believe in fiber unless it's in our food. Even then, I cannot have a lot.
I've been getting bouts of diverticulitis every month and just emailed my GI about a surgical consult!
