Soft wave therapy for joint pain

Posted by koleke @koleke, Jul 7, 2024

Just wondering if anyone has tried Software Therapy? It's relatively new and claims to help the majority of those who use it. Basically it uses strong shockwaves to stimulate the body's ability to heal itself.. I had an introductory session but they want a lot of money to continue. My knee is bone on bone. Anyone familiar?

Hi, I have had 5 of 9 Softwave treatments on my wrist, which is bone on bone. It has increased my range of motion. Also helps alleviate the pain. Unfortunately, it is expensive. Insurance does not cover it. At least mine does not. I was told that even after all your treatments, your body will continue to heal the area treated up to 16wks (give or take). It won't replace my Cartlidge, but it will or can support bone regrowth where the bone has been grinded away. Not sure if that's a good thing since I don't have Cartlidge. I started the treatments for a chance to heal and not have another useless failed surgery. Unfortunately, it will not fix me permanently (Solely my guess). I was never told by my ortho hand surgeon, of 5 years, that I have Osteoarthritis. Now my only option from him is to fuse my wrist and metal rods and plates. NO thank you!! I love to kayak! So, after all that, yes it helped me quite a bit with pain and range of motion/mobility. I could not wipe myself before the treatments, by the 2nd treatment I was good. Sorry to be so truthful, but that sucked. It's my dominant hand. Long term has yet to be determined. Good luck to you!

Any suggestions on options for bone-on-bone relief please feel free to let me know. Thank you..

Have you looked into hyaluronic acid injections? Another thing not covered by insurance 😊 it’s very successful on knee osteoarthritis. it’s definitely worth looking into for your wrist!

So no one looks for the incorrect things, it is ShockWave therapy.

I have severe osteoarthritis in my right knee and softwave therapy, after just two sessions, relieved the pain. Knee is still stiff but don't have the shooting pain.

Is "Software" a local brand name for sonar shockwave therapy, or is it a different kind of technology?

My mistake! Have not heard of SoftWave. I wonder how it compares to ShockWave. Sure sounds more inviting than “Shock” wave😊

This may be way off but I'll write it anyway. I've had many joint problems since the mid 90's. Both shoulders were first requiring surgery. The left shoulder, in 1996, held up until 3-4 years ago. I started with shots which no longer help and after a CT, was told bone on bone I need a reverse replacement. The pain and lack of range of motion is telling me I need to act soon.

A few months ago a friend who needed a knee replacement told me a device she bought from Amazon for about 30 bucks. It straps to knees, shoulders and anything you can put it. It has heat and simple vibration. I started using it about 4-5 times a day along with turmeric.

I have arthritis in almost every joint. The turmeric has helped my fingers. The other gadget has helped my shoulder enough that I canceled my surgery. I cannot believe how long it's worked. I thought something would fail. The battery charges pretty fast and it's still holding a good charge after over 3 months of steady use. I have no idea how long this may last but I didn't like the idea of the surgery. It has a long recovery time and the doc said I could not lift more than 25lbs. That made me worry about how strong the surgery was. For instance, if I fell on my arm, how easily would the surgery be broken? I really could not see doing this PT more than once.

Seems like it's too easy? Well I can't believe it's been helping but it has. I'll be looking into those waves mentioned above.
