Scar tissue after knee replacement
I had knee replacement surgery 6 weeks ago . Through PT I have been working on breaking up the scar tissue only for it to regrow by the time I get back to PT two days later. I have been massaging at home, using a hand held massager and roller. It is painful and swollen. I am getting very disheartened. Any suggestions as to what else I can do. Has anyone had laser treatments to break up scar tissue? Were they effective?

Thank you none of the doctors took my insurance and HSS I had it done at and why you didn’t like my doctor looking to find an arthroscopic procedure
I had my procedure done at NYU
I am still in PT being massaged and do some myself - having problems with the patella tendon - doing exercises in the pool - it seems to get a little better very slowly !!! - Maybe there is hope after 2 years ? So don't give up just keep on pushing through the pain !!
Briard, do you have medicare? How do u get massage if u have Medicare to pay for it? good luck
I did not have arthroscopic, I had robotic - they can do a much finer, intricate surgery (where their fingers can't fit) Correct me if you know better. But, I'am over 70 and constantly get praise, from Drs. and PT, for how well I'm doing 6 weeks out.
yes I have Medicare and I get the massage at PT - but I do a lot of massaging myself - its hard on the fingers, though !
Do you know what the script said? I asked Dr. and PT many times but, get No. I know it would help -but, can't reach my calves very well. And I had disastrous toe surgery - 3 toes need to be pulled or straightened.
I thought the laser treatment was going to be great it worked for me for the first few weeks then became less effective
yes i had my first hydrotherapy last Monday was beyond amazing pain free bending was good for 24hrs after then what swelled back up. i have a new physio now who assessed my knee as the the quads are not responding unless l am weight bearing sitting down the don’t engage! that’s when swelling more obvious. hydro tomorrow see how it goods x
Was this cold laser therapy? I'm looking into this and trying to get information. Thank you!
