Desipramine
Still looking for anyone who has had success with this med. I was on Paxil for 15 years and doing well and a new primary care told me to try going off it. Severe anxiety and depression returned and I have been unable to get on an SSRI or SNRI due to severe nausea. Trying Desipramine but concerned about the side effects.

1 ReactionThis forum is great IMHO!
I’m learning things that should have been told to me by prescribing physicians or the pharmacists. I know that different folks experience medications differently. The post that asked about a product that one of our regulars called “ a scam “ and if I understood it correctly it’s about it being more like a supplement than a pharmaceutical.
[ doesn’t it seem to other as it seems to me that there’s a growing list of products now being marketed as products that will grow hair, cure Erectile disfunction, and a growing list of cures. In the old days these were called “ snake oil “ but for some reason the list of products continues to grow. I think these companies know that once the public who buys these products THEY will validate that they work. I KNOW because I purchased one called “PROSTATE COMPLETE” on clearance for 8 dollars The non clearance price is $40 plus for 1 month supply.
The list of ingredients are mostly benign ingredients
that wouldn’t cost very much to purchase independently.
There’s “HIMS” “ HERS” and other names names of so many products that may not harm us but clearly confuse us.
WE one this connect MAYO CLINIC FORUM.
Let’s be mindful of products such as these and tell and or ask each other what we know about them.
In this case thanks to the person who asked about the so-called “ scam medication! Sorry I can’t filter through all posts to give you the credit by your name as my vision is fading. You know who you are so a BIG THANK. YOU from me!

1 ReactionIt’s absurd that your primary care doctor wants to take you off of Paxil which you were doing well on. I would schedule to see him and make your case to be put back on it unless it’s causing some type of bodily harm. Let him know that unless he can justify his decision you’ll find a mental health provider who will help you with your antidepressants. It’s more common than not, that Those of us who are on antidepressants had to go thru a process of trial and error to not only find one that works but also have little side effects. Why a doctor would require you to go through that process again is mind boggling.

1 ReactionI was doing well on Paxil. Had no side effects going on it after trying 2 others. Was doing great but this new primary care decided everyone should try to go off their antidepressants once. I tried to go back on Paxil but was severely nauseated and could not continue. I do have a physiatrist now who put me on Desipramine after I failed on Zoloft, Remeron, Cymbalta and Effexor due to severe nausea.
