@cheris I find it encouraging that your second TKR went better. My first knee recovery has been terrible with pain and tightness. Lots of sitting pain too. Had to have a L5/S1 micro decompression which has helped some but after 15 months, buttock and knee pain still an issue. And, my body mechanics change contributed to a avulsion fracture of my heel where my Achilles inserts. But, I have no choice but to have second knee replaced. Very valgus knees and first TKR made opposite knee even worse. Any pre-surgery advice is welcome. I try to keep moving, but back surgery has limited me for now. Six week post op tomorrow. Just ready to get it done so I can start recovery! Thanks.
I had a knee replacement 14 months ago and still have knee pain and my IT band is still tight and gives me pain and my knee doesn’t bend far because of that. Really frustrated! Went for second opinion and doctor suggested manipulation but could cause other issues or arthroscopic surgery to clean out scar tissue.During pt I was doing great in the beginning but then started having back issues and sciatica so had to deal with both.Still can’t walk down stairs without stiffness and pain. Any suggestions?
Omg this is me - I’m six weeks post op. I feel awful , I feel exactly the same 3 weeks post. The sciatic pain running from hip inside groin down to foot and down the back and side I pressure IT band . My knee is awful it feels like someone has poured concrete in it and then as u said tied the tightest elastic bands around it . My scar is still open also . It’s really getting me down please please please help me .
I totally hear you on the butt and hip pain. I'm constantly massaging those areas. The scar tissue is really annoying though and impeding my progress on ROM.
Your gait may have changed, or favoring one leg post surgery can do it. Have the therapist treat it.
