@merrychristmas, I was mainly posting the information for the person ,sjm46, who said she was taking Red Yeast Rice. So many people don't realize that it actually is a statin, an unregulated one.

I didn't mean to imply that it would be a substitute for Crestor for you, that it might solve your "pins and needles" sensation. I believe Crestor and Lipitor are the two strongest statins.
I take a very low dose, 10mg of Lipitor . I have sleep issues and have wondered if it might be the culprit .

Yes, I know Red Yeast Rice is a statin; my cardiologist confirmed that. I just prefer to take this with no side effects for me personally than taking a "drug company" version. My husband takes Crestor, has for years, and he tolerates it very well. Everyone has to find their own method that works for them. I wasn't suggesting it was for everyone, just that there are choices out there and technically, all medications are capable of side effects.
