@jacklin

Thank you for your clarification, I’ve had my 4th Reclast last November. I was never made aware of the water excess and Claritin you need to take with that other drug you mentioned.
I have osteoporosis and osteopenia. In four years I have broken 3 ribs on my left side just by banging them on my cat’s scratching post
And 2 ribs on my right side as of this week.in rehab right now with a fall walking in Rehab, waiting for foot X-ray.
Teeth problems as of right now, that Cannot be pulled because of Reclast
My first break was my foot when I was in my 20’s.
Any good suggestions ? Thank you!!!!

Sometimes I wonder if the drugs help or whether it's good luck or genes. So sorry to hear about your broken ribs. Haven't experienced that yet but did fracture my pelvis years ago. Hate having someone ask what's your pain from 1 to 10 so now I use the pelvis as my upper end.
My endocrinologist keeps telling me I have osteoporosis; my response is "maybe".
Her conclusion is based on the -2.5 value at L2. L2 just happens to be where my spine takes a significant lateral bend because of my scoliosis. Standing up straight as my mother was always reminding me, has my left shoulder looking 1.5 inch lower than the right. Doc says the computer adjusts for the turn at L2 but alas I don't believe that happens. At an active 79 (still skiing) I've become more cynical and sometimes blow off what I'm told by the "experts" of which there are non in the Houston area. So good luck. I've learned so much from the knowledgeable women in this group that I think my PCP would like to get rid of me since I question everything. Friday she suggested that since I was pretty up to date on the subject, I should just pick city with good bone options and make my appointment there. Maybe so.

Boy. I sure wish I got diagnosed with mine earlier cuz I would've been on a bone building drug 5 yrs ago cuz now I have 8 compression fractures and im 68 now but been active with biking, walking ,fitness center . Had no clue--So my opinion is get on something to build bone before something like a fracture happens bc it has ruined my life in a snap of a finger after lifting something heavy. Just a thought.

While many seek meds , they are not the only solution…take great care before taking them…make sure there won’t be negative drug interactions. Tell your doctors immediately of bad side effects—they should listen and guide you carefully.
