Thank you for sharing your journey with your Dear Independent Dad and your two sisters ❤️. I am the oldest of 3 sisters, and we had similar challenges with each of our parents, 3 years apart! Now, my dear husband of 47 years was diagnosed with aggressive urothelial carcinoma, and our journey takes a turn. You are an inspiration, my dear friend across the miles. Sending lots of hugs your way.

Oh I’m sorry. We are near the end, he’s stopped eating mostly, my sister entices him to eat even when he says no, it’s hard to watch, but we stay respectful, or trying. We have Psw one morning and night, and nurse daily. The palliative doctor came to the home and offered a hospital bed and if he wanted to go to hospice, he wanted to stay home at this point, he’s not sure what hospice is, he needs time to think things through. He whispers only, we still carry him with the wheelchair to the toilet respectfully. All medications are to be stopped as per doctors EXCEPT pain medication. He can eat if he wants when he wants and pedialyte and ensure fluids are always at his side. They also suggested a port for pain medication. And to be honest my dad does not always tell the truth when he’s in pain, so it’s all frustrating.
