Chronic Fatigue and POTS were the worst - but Mestion has been a game changer! The last remnants of LC are now legs that get tired and extremely stiff after sitting, walking, standing, etc. I used to commute to NYC via walking 5 miles a day and after a mile now, my legs stiffen up and I'm in pain.

I never heard of Mestinon, so I researched it. Sounds promising. I plan to discuss a prescription with my medical provider.

The generic drug is Pyridostigmine. I started taking 1/4 of a 60 mg tablet morning and night for a week, then 1/2 a tablet morning and night for a week and now i'm on a whole tablet. I am being treated by the Columbia Presbyterian long covid clinic in NYC. The effects were almost instant on the full dose. I was in great shape before covid 5' 4" weighing 125 lbs, then migraines, dizziness, sensitivity to light and sound, etc. My cardiologist sent me for a sleep study, (< less than 5 apneas) and i gave the machine a 6 month trial before boxed it up and hid it in my closet. Being of a certain age 55 yo, i also started Hormone Replacement Therapy (through midi.com) and the estrogen patches and progesterone (100mg) at night helps with sleep and anxiety.

I hope you find relief!

My worst symptom is fatigue which at times is debilitating. Constant low level fatigue. Plus extreme fatigue from post exertion malaise if not appropriately managed and extreme fatigue immediately after eating. I have had extreme pain and stiffness in leg muscles causing problems with early morning movement. This has improved with LDN. Sleep problems vary from night to night.

I think you are experiencing PEM - post exertional malaise/exercise intolerance. You can learn a lot about the condition at the free YouTube channel of the Bateman Horne Center.
Another place to visit on YouTube is the (again) free site of Gez Medinger. He is one of us and his site is a gold mine of information. He posts frequently.
My best,
Pam

Yes, you are correct, it is symptomatic of PEM. There are several good “experts” on the subject. I have read and studied. Most agree that the problem is at the mitochondria level.
Basically with PEM, my quality of life depends on my ability to manage my activities as related to fatigue. The problem is my body doesn’t always provide good feedback. However, I have fewer and fewer episodes of being wiped for days at a time.
