Hypothyroidism: What medications work for you?

Posted by melbutts61 @melbutts61, 4 days ago

I was curious if there are better medications out there for Hypothyroidism. I have been on Synthroid for 18 years and of course my lab work looks fine but I do not feel fine. Anybody else experiencing the same?

the book, Stop the Thyroid Madness, is quite informative, too.

I did not do well on Synthroid. I take NP thyroid , which is a desiccated thyroid with both T3 and T4 in it. I also take a small amount of compounded thyroid medication ,too, that has T3 and T4 in it as well.
Read books by Izabella Wentz. She is a registered pharmacist who delves deeply into thyroid management.

I also take vitamin D3, selenium and zinc-all required for your thyroid to work optimally.

I read a lot from posters having issues with thyroid medications. I am on a very low dose but have never had any side effects from it. I take only 12.5 mg of it which is half of the tablet it comes in. I take the generic form Synthroid.

With only being able to pass on my personal experience with the side effects I have had (which are none) can you go into what your side effects were? Did those side effects listed on the medication information sheet?

I can't say I had side effects. I just didn't feel well on it.
