I found fresh aloe vera more effective. I used fresh aloe vera during radiation treatment right after each session and had no burn. I made a mistake of stopping right after the last treatment and developed light burn after. I think we’re supposed to continue for at least 2 weeks after.

I used aloe gel, I found one that didn’t have alcohol in it. I kept it in the fridge at work and put a little on whenever I thought of it.
I am sure there are benefits to fresh but not everyone has access to an aloe Vera plant.
