Osteoporosis and Prunes
I just ran across an article (not a recognized medical magazine) that states the eating 5-6 prunes a day can reverse osteoporosis? Anyone know anything about the possible connection? or see anything to this effect in a reputable medical source? @gailfaith

I’ve been ordering the organic pitted prunes in bulk online from Taylor Brothers Farms in CA and they are fresh and delicious and the price if you buy bulk is excellent. I happened to be ordering more today and was on their website. There is lots of good nutritional information and more about prunes here. I would have thought they were high sugar but evidently they are a low glycemic food. I had no idea they were so nutritious (I realize Taylor Brothers wants to sell their prunes but still…). Just FYI, if my math is right...Sunsweet prunes at Costco ($9.99 for 3.5 lbs) are only $2.85/lb. Bulk purchase at Taylor ($50.00 for 5 lbs) is $10/lb. If you belong to Costco, Sunsweet is a much better value.

From what I know, prunes are high in potassium. Having an adequate level of potassium is important for bone health. Reversing osteopenia/osteoporosis takes more than just consuming prunes. It’s only one variable in the whole picture. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Prunes also contains other key nutrients for bone health: boron, magnesium, copper, and vitamin K. I am pre-diabetes and was concerned about the sugar, so have to be careful about how/when to consume the 5-10 prunes daily... They are not a replacement but supports other osteoporosis treatments.
Sunsweet aren't Organic.
My doctor recently encouraged me to eat prunes but I have such a negative idea of the taste I have not added them yet.
They are delicious.
I have pre diabetes too. How do you arrange to eat them without surging your blood glucose level? Do you find evening is less of a problem for carbs than morning? How many at a time?
