Anyone have Rituximab infusion for lymphoma treatment? Did it help?

Posted by knissy @knissy, Jun 15 3:51pm

I have had slow growing Lymphoma for 2 years. Found it with a Bone Marrow biopsy. Symptoms are getting bad now. I'm considering immunotherapy. Anyone had that kind of therapy? How did it go?

Leeann I'm doing fine with it. I was scared to.
I got a reaction to it the 1st time. Not bad. My eyes and ears started to itch, then my head. The nurse attending to me knew just what to do. I get my second one in 2 days. Not scared now. I hope this helps. Other people have told me it was good for them.

Thank you Knissy. So there isn’t the typical side effects of chemo medications. My oncologist at Kaiser in Sacramento, California wants me to do 1 treatment each week for 4 weeks. I am hoping my salivary gland goes down, uncomfortable. Wish you a remission and appreciate updates how it is going. I very much wanted to find a support group or someone to talk to going through it too.

Hi,
I was diagnosed with stage 3 Mantle Cell Lymphoma 10 years ago. I was treated with 3 rounds of RCHOP and 3 rounds of RDHAP alternating. The "R" in each was Rituximab. 10 years going and no sign of cancer.

No major side effects but indeed after the last round I felt really crummy. Just wanted to go home.

Regards,

Randy

I posted last month in this thread but wanted to share again my positive experience with Rutiximab to provide encouragement to others considering this treatment since I had such positive results. I received 4 rounds of R-Chop therapy and 4 Matrix treatments at Mayo Clinic for an aggressive B cell lymphoma. Both of these therapies included Rutiximab paired with chemotherapy for each of the 8 rounds.

For my treatments, Mayo administered Tylenol and Benadryl prior to each treatment to prevent adverse reactions. This worked very well to prevent symptoms and I had great results with this treatment - I have been in remission for a year now. I believe the Rituximab is a significant part of my successful remission. As @loribmt has stated when receiving Rituximab for another issue, it can be a game changer for multiple reasons.

I had no negative reaction to the Rituximab given to me for B cell Lymphoma which I was diagnosed with in 2017. The protocol before each infusion was as yours with the Benadryl and Tylenol. Fingers crossed as so far the Lymphoma has not returned!

It seems to me Rituximab may be the miracle drug. I have CLL/SLL and pyoderma gangrenosum has appeared as a manifestation of the cancer. Once on my leg and once on my face. Both times I was treated with Rituximab and it eliminated the PG. I have also received Rituximab infusions to control RA but the doctors are afraid to use it on a consistent basis. They fear it will lose its effectiveness . But I have had excellent results.

I have had both Bedamustine and rituxin for SMZL 2 days a month for 6 months. That was in in the beginning of 2023. So far so good!!
