I have golfers elbow and tennis elbow going on 3 years. I have never golfed or played tennis. I have had physical therapy twice. I've had cortisone injections 3 times with no relief. I have seen multiple doctors. The one surgeon wa ts to go in and deride the tendon and clean it out but can't guarantee this would take the pain away. I may do prp but not sure yet. I just started shortwave therapy, will need to go multiple times but its not cheap and insurance does not cover it. I am trying it because I'm desperate to get rid of the pain. I will keep you updated.

Hello - Tennis elbow which is also called epichondylitis, is quite common and quite disabling. I have had it for many years.
Everything I have tried has been temporary. The ortho doc recommends no more cortisone as it can weaken the tendon, and I have already had a couple tendon tears elsewhere in my body.

I find topical pain relievers like Voltaren gel work pretty well. I also use K Tape to support the area. My PT taught me how to tape for tennis elbow, and it is very helpful. You can Google it.

Can you tell me more about the shortwave therapy? I have only heard of shockwave therapy.

You could try sonar shockwave. No needles or knives needed. It takes several treatments and healing progresses over a month or so. Also it's not covered by insurance yet and it's expensive. You could not use NSAIDs or cortisone while you're doing shockwave. I have tried it several times. It promotes better circulation and speeds up healing. I think it's great. Good luck, whatever you choose.

I have had chronic back pain which increases as I get older. I went to these pain specialists but they want me to go and do biofeedback. I am in pain so badly I can't walk sometimes and I was born with a spinal problem. Everyone in my family has this problem, it's genetic. I didn't know this until many years later because all my family lives in Britain. I am so tired of being in pain, can't anyone help me??

leebee, it's a crying shame that your doctors won't give you the pain meds that work! I would think since you have bad chronic pain, they should give you something like Percocet or Vicadin. Prayers for you.

Regarding thigh pain my mom's orthopedist recommended 1,000-2,000 mg of Turmeric. 2,000 mg got rid of my mom's thigh pain.
