Diarrhea and abdominal pain

Perhaps seeing a dietician...and you must figure out what foods work for your gut now. Immodium helps too...just dont over-use. Once you pay attention to your gut - you can control the diarrhea. Greasy, fatty food is not your friend. Your body will adjust over time...its not an easy process. There is no quick fix. Take care.

My symptoms were exactly the same and my GI doc was exactly the same. I changed docs and had a complete stool test. I was diagnosed with EPI, Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. I was prescribed ZENPEP, an extremely expensive pancreatic enzyme supplement. I found a far less expensive enzyme supplement on Amazon, VITAL, that has almost the same amount and types of enzymes as Zenpep. I use those exclusively now.

Benefiber has been the solution to this problem for me. It comes in many forms, powder, gummies, chewables. All work immediately.

I suddenly started experiencing diarrhea after I had a second organ transplant. In my case it was my intestines reaction to milk that I used to love drinking. My Heptologist tested for various things and we got it down to lactose intolerance if I have to much milk. So now it's just cream (real) in my coffee. I also noticed bad affects if I eat to much hot sauces that I also like. So moderation now. Then there are just those times I am not sure why it occures. I take diarrhea pills now when it occurs and it feels like more b than just one event. I now got it down to using just half adult dose of the pills. In bad situations if I do take full strength, I get backed up a day or two.

Just a note, my son had instances at night when he would vomits late in evening around midnight. He was tested by a Heptologist for food flow from his stomach to small intestines. It's the small intestine that absorbs the nutrients.

You need to be tested for dumping and gastroparesis. Both can be done with slow emptying test. One for solid and one for liquid. It’s the same test, just eat and drink different foods. Also, there is a breath test for SIBO. Good luck.

About 6 years ago I started having chronic diarrhea and stomach pain. I went a couple of gastroenterologists, had colonostomys and no one could give me a definative cause of the diareaha. The first doctor stated there is nothing wrong with me and to use peppermint oil when I had stomach pain. The second doctor did not find the cause of my diarrhea, but he gave me medications to treat my symptoms. That helped, but I still felt sick, and the diarrhea þÿalways returned. About two months ago, I went to my second doctors PA. She looked at my lab reports and stated, my bile is too high.
She gave me a bile blocker, colestipol, to take once per day. I tried it the same day following the instructions. That day was the first day in six years I did not have diarrhea. It has worked consistantly for the past six weeks. The PA gave me my life back. I am so thankful!

I have the same condition. Mine is believed to be caused by Bile Acid Malabsorption (BAM), a gastrointestinal condition where the intestines cannot properly absorb bile acids, leading to symptoms like chronic diarrhea and watery stools. Mine started occurring after my gallbladder was removed. No gallbladder to store bile, so the body just flushed it out. Here a couple of links to Mayo articles that address it.

After 2 weeks of on and off pain, discomfort from severe bloating, 3 ER visits , it was discovered my gall bladder was the root cause. Bike reflux attacks not solvable with acid reflux solutions. Bad taste in mouth . Liver enzymes off the roof! Last week gall bladder was removed. Now struggling to keep low fat diet, spreading out small portioned meals. Had 5 decent days, then another bad night . Is there anything that works to relieve bile reflux?

Thanks for all this info. General discomfort, taste altering, nausea following gall bladder removal.
A friend mentioned SUCRALFATE might help. Anyone familiar with that and had positive results if bile acid attacks? Could coating intestines with Maalox help prevent?

@koneil which lab tests did the PA give you to determine that?
