Has anyone experienced incontinence after HOLEP surgery?
I recently had HOLEP surgery at the end of 2024. One of my main issues nine weeks later is incontinence or leakage. Been doing kegels but it still persists. Has anyone else experienced this and for how long?

I only stated facts, I’m not blaming the doctor. The operation has a lots of risks and the results are a crap shoot and S happens. Please keep your options to yourself, you have no idea of what happened, I do and reminded of it at every waking moment every day.
Whatever bruh. If you didn’t want an opinion why are you here online with a post that allows comments ? Don’t shout out the doctor and I wont shout you out.
Sorry you had side effects but not the drs fault.
I here for helpful tips on getting well faster

1 Reaction@randymurch, having a longer than anticipated recovery or unexpected complications is frustrating . Doctors do have to be licensed in the state where a patient lives to conduct telemedicine. However, did he not conduct your aftercare once your returned to your home state?
Is it possible that the extended care that your recovery is requiring needs further consultation with a local urologist?

1 ReactionNo aftercare was setup in my home sate, he called me several times after the surgery to see how I was doing. On the first call he told me to make an appointment with my Urologist for a 3 month check up.
I am planning on giving it 3 months to see if I start seeing a change. If it is not getting any better by that time I will ask my urologist to scope me to see the size of the valve openings at either end of the prostate.

1 ReactionThank you for this reminder. I have been trying my best to respond with respect to what I felt was an attack towards me. I didn’t intend to seem like I was attacking my Dr., I was trying to explain what I had been and going through.
I will not respond to the negative poster anymore who was trying to pick a fight with me or anyone else who is negative.
Yes, I am into my 15th week after holep and still struggling with incontinence when on my feet all day long. The only time I can stay mostly dry is sleeping at night. I usually sleep all night and pee in the morning, but from there on out it is mostly leaking with a depends on me. Very frustrating to say the least. I am starting to be very concerned about my long term results. I have done the kegels since leaving the hospital and will be starting physical therapy for the pelvic floor soon. The Dr. did not say much at my 12 week follow up. Another disappointment. So, good luck to you and I hope you return to good health soon. Anyone out there have suggestions for me or know a good doctor I could consult?

1 ReactionYour experience sounds like mine. four months since holep, I stay pretty dry at night but after peeing in morning it is leaking almost constantly all day long when I am on my feet doing things. I still use about 7 guards a day most of the time. If I sit or lie down I barely leak at all. Very difficult to go anywhere or do much without being tied to your depends. I have been doing kegels for more than three months so far with little change.

2 ReactionsDon’t give up. I am 7 months in and nearly normal. I can now wear just a liner all day. I did kegels for 6 months. Now only do them for a week at a time a couple of weeks out of the month.
