Cataract surgery possible?

My eye cataracts
Have gotten very bad since on infusions, Brukinsa and dexamethosone for Waldenstroms. Ophthalmologist said I need the surgery but can’t do it while I am on the protocols. Reading has always been my happy place. Any ideas?

@zeedee1 It is a known fact that dexamethasone may "speed up" cataract formation. I am now on 12mg once a week, after initially starting at 20mg on 2021. Two years ago I had cataract surgery on both eyes. And remained on my protocol for multiple myeloma [Revlimid, dex, bacteria, Acyclovir] without stopping. I did schedule the surgeries to coincide with my week off from Revlimid.

Do you take any break between your meds? Has your opthalmologist given you any idea how long you would need to be off the protocol before doing the surgery?

I had one eye done last dec while on HU and opth and hemo/onc thought nothing of it. End of July this year having second eye done but I have been off HU for four months now. I see the PA tomorrow and will mention it to her, this is a new practice I go to since the first eye. Janet

Thanks so much. Checking with my oncologist tomorrow as well. It was the eye surgeon that said he couldn’t do it
