Anyone tried Kevzara for PMR?
I am 72 yo dx with PMR 1 1/2 years ago on Prednisone for treatment. It helped but threw me into diabetes! Since then wanted to get off Pred and went down 1mg per 2weeks. Finally off on March but symptoms so much worse. Tried 3 different prescription nsaids and not helping( but off diabetes meds!!) Anyone tried Kevzara? My family Doc told me to ask Rheumatologist about this med.

Yes. I’ve been on Kevzara for 4 months and am off prednisone for my PMR. Besides some fatigue, no noticeable side effects. Seems WAY better than prednisone. GOOD LUCK!
I have stopped predisone after on for a year I am on kevzara this is my 3rd shot 200. Not noticing any relief my hands are swollen and in pain
I have learned it takes 8-12 doses to feel it working! I am at 7. I am just feeling like it might be helping!! Be patient( I know it’s hard. Getting off Prednisone is tuff too!!) Good luck🙏
I am using Kevzara, 5 shots into the therapy and I feel so much better. I can get back to my daily workout exercise now, no pain or stiffness. Can’t wait to see if it helps get off the prednisone quicker.
May I ask if you are on Medicare and does it pay for kevzara? What is the price? Dr. Is talking about having me try it. I was diagnosed in 2023 and just recently weaned off of prednisone but the symptoms are returning. Thank you for your info.
I've been on Kevzara for 8 weeks now (every 2 weeks). Was diagnosed with PMR on 3/19/25 but rheumatologist. Started out on 15 mg Prednisone after rheumatologist confered with my cardiologist. ( I had earlier surgery for atrial fibrillation). Of course Prednisone was like a miracle, but due to heart issue needed to taper as quickly as possible. After first month Kevzara was added. I've tapered to 4 mg. of Prednisone. Hope to be off prednisone within 2 months. Then we'll see. Praying 🙏 Kevzara will work alone. By the way I'm 75.
Kevzara is great!! Been on it for about a year now. It works better than Prednisone for me. Tapering off Prednisone has been hard but with the dead slow drop schedule, I was able to get to 3 mg. Rheumatologist is good with me staying here or dropping more..for now, Im staying stable at 3 mg.
Kevzara is amazing and I got a good response even after the first shot. It targets different inflammation receptors than Prednisone - I think my PMR is more active on that other pathway.
On medicare and so far payed a bit at first now 0!!
Yes, started Kevzara at Thanksgiving when I struggled getting below 10mg of Pred. I’m 59 and debilitating PMR started in January of last year. I’m now down to 1 mg of Pred and plan to goto zero next month. Kevzara has been awesome for me. I feel so much better and have my energy back. Good luck!
I'm so happy for you. I only know how I feel on Actemra and there is no comparison to how I felt taking Prednisone. After I got off Prednisone, I continued to feel better.
I still have rheumatology visits every 6 months but we don't seem to have too much to discuss anymore. My prior rheumatology visits were mostly spent discussing how much Prednisone I was taking and the need to get me off Prednisone. I tried not to bother my rheumatolgist with too many pain complaints. My many updates to various doctors about ER visits and hospitalizations don't happen anymore. Mostly, I just show up at my monthly Actemra infusions.
