Has anyone had this and what does it feel like exactly? Ibelieve I have these and almost feels like palpitations. I feel this when I have reflux or a lot of burping for a long period. Help please

Ugh, that sounds horrible. And I thought I had it bad. I haven't pursued any other diagnostics since this all started. It sounds like I might have 1 of your dysfunctions...where food gets stuck on the way down at the esophagus and yes...it feels like a heart attack. Super painful. I suspect that, after a plethora of tests, they either won't find anything or, like you, won't be able to do anything about it. Do you take any meds for any of this? Thank you for reaching out
Have you had your magnesium levels checked. These meds can cause muscle spasms due to low Mag. along with heart palpitations.
I have no reflux thank goodness, however the one surgery that can fix lower esophagus (cutting the muscle) will then cause severe reflux.
The only thing that helps with chest pain is Clonazepam (I have tried nitro, calcium channel blockers but no relief.
I absolutely cannot take any NSAIDS due to it causing tremendous pain.
Yes, unfortunately it's not about my body lacking something, more like it's gone haywire.
I see a neuro gastrointestinal doctor to rule out any neurological autoimmune issues.
They are wanting to do a Heller Myotomy with a Nissan as well but if the fundoplication is to tight then you just went through a worthless procedure.
Fun fact, not sure if it's a good or bad thing but I'm a retired GI nurse and witnessed complications with both the Heller and the Myotomy.
No easy answer 🤷♀️
However I am curious as to what medicine you referred to.
Constipation is not a problem for me, along with this issue I have EPI, yes post Covid, so I truly wouldn't know what to do if I had a solid BM, lol
Before I had the myotomy and Nissen my gastroenterologist suggested Botox injections and calcium channel blockers to help with esophageal dysmobility. Nortryptiline is supposed to help and peppermint oil, but both cause other g.i. issues for me.
I've had numerous Botox and dilations with no improvement.
As crazy as it sounds any thing peppermint, spearmint makes it worse.
Tried Nitroglycerin, channel blockers, nothing.
I am going to look into the nortryptiline. Thank you
@cheryl46 I find sipping water helps with esophageal spasms. I always keep water by my bedside too for night time spasms.
Anyone have a reversal of their Nissan fundoplication? Mine was wrapped too tight and I have issues with swallowing food. Stretching my esophagus and botox do not help.
Hi, @marquis113 - you might check out this conversation on the topic of reversal of a Nissen fundoplication on Mayo Clinic Connect:
